Let’s Feed Brum is volunteer-run, so everyone you meet is giving up their time to support Birmingham’s homeless and vulnerable communities. This also means we could not do what we do without people like you.
Our main job is to offer friendship and support to the people we meet, along with the supplies we distribute. By building trust, we can signpost people to the services that will help them change their circumstances.
Are you a business or organisation?
“Volunteering with Let’s Feed Brum has been an honour and a privilege. I have learnt new skills, expanded networks. Most importantly, the act of giving is great for my mental and physical wellbeing. We provide a lifeline of support through food and other supplies, and most importantly humanity, being there as a friend and a listening ear; by lifting others we elevate ourselves.”

Your time directly helps us provide essential support, making a tangible difference in people’s lives. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience that strengthens our community. As a volunteer-run charity, you are the heart of Lets Feed Brum.
It means a lot to us if you can make a regular commitment, whether it’s every week or a couple of times a month. We also understand that there are times when other commitments get in the way, so don’t worry if you need to take a break sometimes.
Give it a try and then speak to your team leader about your availability.
Every new LFB volunteer is guided through their first few walkabouts, including an introduction to how it all works from the team leader. You will be paired with an experienced volunteer for your first few sessions and you will always be part of a team. We never ask volunteers to engage in walkabouts or other activities on their own.
We expect everyone to read and accept the rules and guidelines in the Volunteer Handbook. It also includes guidance that helps you better understand the charity and your important role.
We don’t ask for references, but we do ask all volunteers to complete a short form. This includes your contact details, an emergency contact, and any accessibility or special needs you may have, so that we can do our best to accommodate you.
It doesn’t cost you anything to volunteer, but you are responsible for your own travel costs. Let’s Feed Brum will reimburse relevant out-of-pocket expenses that have been agreed in advance.
Anyone interested in volunteering who is under 18 must come with a responsible adult. Please get in touch to speak to the team lead for the night to discuss arrangements.
